Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Policy

1. Purpose

This policy sets out how Pamphill Parish Hall manages and controls substances that could be hazardous to health. All products used should be domestic in nature, stored appropriately, and used following manufacturer instructions.

2. Definitions

  • Hazardous Substances: Any chemical, cleaner or material that could pose a risk if misused or mishandled.
  • Safety Data Sheet (SDS): Manufacturer documentation describing the properties, hazards and safe handling of a substance.

3. Systems of Work

Products kept on site include:

  • Washing up liquid and multi-surface cleaner (kitchen sink area).
  • Handwash and hand-gel dispensers in toilets.

Storage:

  • General products are in the kitchen or accessible cupboards for all users.

All products must remain in original packaging with hazard instructions intact.

4. Specific Substances and Use

  • Mould Remover Spray: Used periodically in the toilet areas

5. Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

SDS for all substances held on site must be included in the hall’s Health & Safety File and be available for reference.

6. Restrictions and Duties

  • Only products listed in this policy can be used in the village hall.
  • No chemical products should be purchased and decanted into other containers.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling or applying chemicals.

7. Monitoring

Pamphill Parish Hall committee will regularly review products in use to ensure they comply with this policy.
